Spring’s on the way, visit from Ash and Matt, the madness begins, sadness in Japan
Birthday: Cami Jo turned 20 on Monday! KA and I sent her some flowers to remind her how special she is on her big day. Goodbye teens, hello twenties!
Warming up: spring is on the way in DC, which means that going on walks, picnics, and taking bike rides are returning to our list of fun to-dos. We kicked things off Saturday night with a stroll around our neighborhood.
Hotel Satterthwaite debut: on Tuesday, KA’s best friend Ashley, her husband Matt, and their amazingly cute daughter Zoe came to town. They first helped us celebrate our two-year anniversary (yes, it is that long since we started dating;), then Wednesday it was coming into the district, touring the Capitol, and enjoying fine dining. Strike that—great food: the hole-in-the wall Indian buffet KA took us to was really good, but it may not qualify as fine dining. . .
Target 1- Clint & KA 0: On Saturday we finally raised the white flag. Our battle with the “Guest Services” department at Target was futile, and we ended up selling our brand new vacuum to a young couple for slightly less than its value, but more than 3x’s what Target was willing to give us for it. Sigh- ill-advised return policies.
Bring on the madness: Friday was spent with MJ and Lilly at Gus & Jen’s watching the BYU basketball game. Jimmer was amazing, and dropped 52 points! Surprisingly, KA stayed awake for 33 of them, which for her is no small accomplishment.
THE REST OF THE WORLD:
Jared hits the big time: This week, Subway surpassed McDonalds as the world’s largest restaurant chain. I’m looking forward to the documentary exposĂ© “Footlong Me.”
Tragedy Strikes Japan: A 9.0 earthquake rocked the island of Japan, setting off a tsunami that devastated the island nation, causing what Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan called “the worst crisis” since World War II.
Sadly, they’re not out of the woods yet: The death toll continues to climb, as fears spread over the release of nuclear radiation into the atmosphere from reactors that are still at a risk of meltdown.
Wars and rumors of wars: on Thursday, the nation’s top spy testified that never in his professional career has he seen an international climate charged with so many challenges, uncertainty, and potential threats. Wow- not to be an alarmist, but I imagine he’s seen a lot, so that’s saying something!
JUST FOR FUN (and to brighten things up):
It’s a guarantee: we get called to the nursery or primary. Clint’s a sucker for little kids, and KA thinks it’s funny that that would be our calling (and mentioned as much to the Bishop).
Sigh, you might as well sustain us now. . .
New Skills? KA is considering opening a barbershop. She trimmed Clint’s hair on Saturday night, and did a pretty great job. …go ahead: enter the joke about how little hair she had to work with;) Ha ha, you’re all so creative.
Almost eerie: We’ve been married for 3 weeks, and we’re already dressing to match. Check out the picture of our Sunday wear below!
