March 28^th

Great visitors in town: this week Clint’s dad Del, and KA’s best friend Shalauna were both in town. We love having visitors (wink, wink: Ashley and Adam;), and enjoy catching up and showing off the city that we love. We have openings May 21^st, June 5^th. . .

You’re eating what? KA was impressed when Clint agreed they should take Del to Chop’t, a trendy restaurant that serves gourmet salads. Suffice it to say, KA proved to Del and Clint that they aren’t allergic to green food, and informed them they could no longer use that excuse. Sigh: bummer for the boys.

MIA and T.H.A.I: Thursday KA took off work to spend time with Shalauna. Clint was informed they were heading to an undisclosed “complex” 30 minutes south of where we live. KA and Shalauna were MIA until they resurfaced several hours later with new jeans, cardigans, sweaters, and. . . well, you get the idea.

Later that night we went to T.H.A.I. for some great Thai food in Shirlington. The day ended with a detour to the frozen yogurt shop, a surprise visit from the sister missionaries, and a BYU game that sadly ended the Cougar’s season.

ClintandKAtravel.com?: With Ashley & Matt and Megan & Nathan having come to town, and KA’s parents coming to town this week, we’re thinking the DC Travel Bureau owes us royalties or dividends of some sort. Clint couldn’t help but think perhaps he should forget finding a job and start his own business. . .

Actually: JK KA, Clint really isn’t going to do that. On that topic, your prayers on his behalf don’t go unnoticed, and he’s grateful for everyone’s encouragement. By way of an update, he currently has some leads, and is hopeful this week will turn up something solid.

Basketball fever: Saturday we watched “coach MJ” lead the C1 ward basketball team to a second place finish in the stake women’s championship. We’re just grateful she refrained from throwing caution in the wind and playing on her yet to-be healed knee. We all knew she wanted to.

THE REST OF THE WORLD

Libya on everyone’s minds: tonight we’ll hear what plans President Obama has for Libya. The no-fly zone has helped the rebels gain some momentum in their war against Khadaffy, but no one can say what the end game looks like, or what happens when the Libyan strongman doesn’t leave.

Go USA!: On Saturday, it turns out there was a soccer game going on as well. The U.S. Men’s National Team managed to tie powerful Argentina 1-1 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Not too bad.

JUST FOR FUN

Competitive spirit?: Yes, we should note—per Gus’ email on Sunday night, KA’s bracket is in contention to win the Henshaw family tournament challenge. For those who think she doesn’t get into sports? Well, she mostly doesn’t. But put $30 on the table, and somehow Kentucky becomes her favorite team in the country.

Seriously, she hasn’t been this excited since we consolidated our Mint.com accounts. . .

Like father, like son: After round one of KA’s barbershop 2 weeks ago, Clint decided he wanted a closer cut than before. When we met up with Clint’s dad on Tuesday, KA couldn’t help but exclaim “you look just like your dad!”

Aversion to salad?

Check.

Close cut on top?

Check.

Is Clint his father’s son?

Yes: and proud of it.

We had to laugh: Del was in town for a technology conference, which means hundreds of techie types descended upon the Washington D.C. Convention Center. When KA saw a group of them standing at the corner waiting to cross the street, she couldn’t help but muse how techie chivalry might work. It seems there’d be no better place to be a damsel-in-distress whose computer just crashed!
